Skin tone can also be determined by it being cool or warm. If you have pink or red undertones in your skin (whether it's fair or dark), you have cool skin tone. Stick to jewel tones like magenta, royal blue, emerald green and blue based reds for your clothing and makeup. When choosing a foundation or concealer, look for neutral or pink-based shades.
If you have yellow, golden or peach undertones in your skin, you have warm skin tone. Work on wearing more of the gold jewelries, olive green, earthly tones and orange-based red makeup or clothing. When choosing a foundation or concealer, choose yellow or peach-based shades.
HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT BLUSH FOR YOUR SKIN TONE?
Finding the right color blush may be one of the biggest challenges we face when it comes to buying makeup. There are so many different types of beautiful shades on the market to choose from. Blushes are meant to be a natural part of the complete makeup. After knowing your skin tone it makes it easier to find the correct shade of the blush that works perfectly for you. To help you I broke it down to 3 groups, fair skin, medium skin and dark skin.
FAIR SKIN: When picking a blush shade for your skin, remember, lighter is better. I recommend pink shades or peach shades.

Nars- Orgasm |
MEDIUM SKIN: If you choose a color that is too light it can make you look ashen, and anything too dark will make you look clownish. I recommend pink or peach shades as well but darker.

Tarte- Tipsy |
DARK SKIN: Choose colors from rose to deep oranges. Choosing a shade that is too light will make your skin appear washed out and pale.

NYX- Cinnamon |
HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT COLOR LIPSTICK FOR YOUR SKIN TONE?
Choosing the right color lipstick could also be a headache. For everything to work with the outfit and the makeup, choosing the wrong color lipstick can ruin the look. Usually if you choose a more dramatic makeup with darker shades and heavy on the eye liner, a lighter lipstick will do the trick. If you choose a more natural look with warm to neutral colors you would pull more for the darker lipsticks to make you stand out more. Using the same concept as for the blushes I am going to break it down to 3 groups, fair skin, medium skin and dark skin.
FAIR SKIN: It's best to go nude. Think peachy lipsticks and nude colored glosses. For a more glam look try a red lipstick. Don't be afraid as long as your eye makeup is not too dark you will be beautiful! Avoid the dark browns and burgundy shades because they contrast too much with your pale skin.

MEDIUM SKIN: You are so lucky that almost every lipstick color works on your skin tone. For an amazing glam look go for a coral shade lipstick. Avoid purple, it will accentuate the yellow undertones in your skin and give you a shallow look. And brown, it can make you look too dull and dead.
- Revlon Colorstay Overtime- Constantly Coral
- L'Oreal Colour Riche Gloss- Soft Coral
- Revlon Colorstay Mineral Lipglaze- Constantly Coral

DARK SKIN: Anything pretty much works with dark skin tones. Try orange or coral shades for a more fun pop of color. Avoid chalky or milky colors with too much white in them because they're too contrasting for your skin tone.

- Estee Lauder Hydra Lustre Lipstick- Spiced Coral

Not many people out there know that it is important to match the lipstick to your blush. Not all times this can work because you might want to wear a red lipstick but if you do dramatic eyes and wear a light pink lipstick try wearing a light pink blush. Remember this does not work for all skin tones. Though I'm a medium / olive, I like to wear the NARS Orgasm blush because it has great golden specks which give you a natural glow if you have a darker skin tone.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see a tutorial on how applying the blush can help contour the face.
You mentioned a lot of Coral tones on the lips - is this a trend for upcoming spring?
Great post! :)
@Fernanda Dos Santos, Yes the Nars Orgasm blush will go well on your olive skin tone, it is actually a little similar to the tipsy I posted for the fair skin category, I just wanted to give 2 options to each skin category and not give them same shade. As for the lips coral is whats in trend now and upcoming as well. Coral goes well with any makeup shadow you choose. For olive skin tone I would also recommend the pinks with some highlighting on your upper lip so it pops out more. I will be posting soon about contouring and highlighting. It might be a video just trying to get a camera so I can start filming soon. Thank you so much for you comment!
