Determine Your Skin Tone & How To Choose the Correct Shades of Bluses or Lipsticks!

Human skin tone comes in a variety of colors. What skin tone are you? Is a question a few people can't answer because they haven't really thought about it. Skin tones are a major issue in choosing the right make up. Some people still didn't match the correct foundation to their skin tone. There are four major types of skin tones; pink (light), yellow (light or medium), olive (medium), and brown (dark). If you are pink skin tone, you have pink undertones, burn easily; get freckles when you burn, or if you have porcelain skin. If you are yellow skin tone, you have tones that are beige or yellow usually Caucasians, light mixed races and Asians fall into yellow skin tones. If you are olive skin tone, you are one of the 80% of all women that fall into olive tone skin. Usually Latinos, Mediterraneans, a fair skinned African American. And if you are brown skin tone, usually African American, deep complexioned Indian or any other dark skin color. Here is a skin tone chart that will help you determine what skin tone you have.

Skin tone can also be determined by it being cool or warm. If you have pink or red undertones in your skin (whether it's fair or dark), you have cool skin tone. Stick to jewel tones like magenta, royal blue, emerald green and blue based reds for your clothing and makeup. When choosing a foundation or concealer, look for neutral or pink-based shades.

If you have yellow, golden or peach undertones in your skin, you have warm skin tone. Work on wearing more of the gold jewelries, olive green, earthly tones and orange-based red makeup or clothing. When choosing a foundation or concealer, choose yellow or peach-based shades.

HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT BLUSH FOR YOUR SKIN TONE?

Finding the right color blush may be one of the biggest challenges we face when it comes to buying makeup. There are so many different types of beautiful shades on the market to choose from. Blushes are meant to be a natural part of the complete makeup. After knowing your skin tone it makes it easier to find the correct shade of the blush that works perfectly for you. To help you I broke it down to 3 groups, fair skin, medium skin and dark skin.



FAIR SKIN: When picking a blush shade for your skin, remember, lighter is better. I recommend pink shades or peach shades.

• Pink Shade: NYX Blush- Natural
• Peach Shade: Nars Blush- Orgasm

MEDIUM SKIN: If you choose a color that is too light it can make you look ashen, and anything too dark will make you look clownish. I recommend pink or peach shades as well but darker.

DARK SKIN: Choose colors from rose to deep oranges. Choosing a shade that is too light will make your skin appear washed out and pale.

Prepping Your Face For the Day Or Before Applying Makeup!

Prepping your face is essential for your everyday requirements. It's like brushing your teeth or combing your hair. Everyone's skin type in different, some are oily, some are dry and few are lucky to have normal skin. There are many facial products out there that will help improve your skin. Let me not forget to mention everyone's nightmare:  dark circles, puffiness, pores, wrinkles, pimples, blackheads, redness and dark spots. People go to the extreme to make sure their face is healthy and firm. Remember you are never too young to start taking care of your skin; specially your face. Look down the line 5-10 years from now, what your skin would look like if you have been taking good care of it? Here are some products that has helped my skin over the years.



Step 1: CLEANSER







The Fresh Soy Face Cleanser to me is amazing. I got a sample from Sephora and started  using it and just simply fell in love with it. The big plus about this product is that it can be used on all skin types and is fragrance free. It also helps remove makeup; even mascara without stripping the skin of essential moisture. It is rich in Amino Acids which helps with wrinkles and anti-aging, it helps fill in lines and gaps, making skin appear smoother while also improving its tone and color. Using this cleanser with warm water helps clean deep down into the pores. This cleanser is a bit pricey but it is worth every penny. This cleanser can be found at Sephora for $38.00.
 



 

 

 

An alternative for a good cleanser for a better price is the Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Radiant Cleanser, Brightening. It is similar to the Fresh Soy Face Cream and is only $8.00.









Step 2: FACE SCRUB

The Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Face Scrub has works miracles for me. It has 2% Salicylic Acid which helps fight pimples. It has exfoliating beads which helps open blocked pores and reduce redness. I have recently just started using this product and it has already showed big improvements to my skin. Using warm water will help the pores open up more so it can be deeply cleaned. This product can be bought at your local retailer such as: Walgreens, CVS, Wal-Mart, and Target. This face scrub is only $6.00.







Step 3: EYE MAKEUP REMOVER




L'OREAL Eye Makeup Remover is my all-time favorite makeup remover ever. It just works perfectly and gently without  stripping the face. It is 100% oil-free. Makeup removers tend to have a greasy residue that leaves your face with an oily feel after. That is something I find super annoying. This formula does not have that; it refreshes the eyes while removing the makeup instantly and gently. One of the best plus of this makeup remover is that's it's safe for contact lenses wearers and also suitable for all skin types. This is a must have! If you haven't tried it, this is one of the products I highly recommend to anyone. This product can be bought at your local retailer such as: Walgreens, CVS, Wal-Mart, and Target. This makeup remover is only $6.00.





Step 4: DEEP CLEANING ASTRINGENT

Clean & Clear Deep Cleaning Astringent  is a formula that has helped me tremendously with my prevention of pimples. It is a gentle formula that treats and helps prevent pimples for sensitive skin. It contains 0.5% Salicylic Acid which is an acne medication. With this product after cleansing and scrubbing your face you can make a final step on making sure your pores are completely free from oils and dirt. This is a affordable product and you can find it on your local retailer for only $4.00.

 

Step 5: EYE DROPS

Blink Tears is one of my favorite eye drops. It lubricates the eyes with every blink. It is very important to use eye drop if you are really into makeup because it helps keep your eyes moisture and if any make up gets into the eyes it will help. Eye drops are also essential for when you wakeup. If you have red then eye drops will only help it get better and makes up look more awake. I use eye drops when I wake up and before I apply my makeup. This product can also be found at your local retailer for only $6.00.

Mary Kay SatinLips is a must have. Most people think that just a simple lip balm will fix their lips from being dry. I know someone that can't live without their lip balm, keeps it in the pocket on the go everywhere and every day. The Satin Lips helps you prevent from using so much of the balms. It is a two step lip treatment that gently exfoliates and moisturizes your lips. The Mask is first, it's just like we use scrub to scrub our face to remove  dead skin, the mask helps get rid of all the excess skin from your lips leaving it smooth and gentle! Then comes the balm keeps it moisturized and fresh. This product can only be bought online or from a Mary Kay beauty consultant. It is only $18.00 but it lasts a very long time.

 

 

 

 

Step 7: PORE MINIMIZER

 

 

 

 

 

Dermadoctor Picture Porefect is the best I've seen.
I don't have huge pores but I like to prevent them from being too exposed to dirt and oils. This helps me keep my pores smaller and I put this one 2 times a day, when I wake up and when I go to sleep. It is clinically proven to immediately reduce the visible appearance of pores. It gives a flawless "POREFECT" finish to the face leaving you fresh and clean from future oils and dirt. This product is a bit pricey and it is available at Sephora or online for around $40.00.

 

 

 

An alternative for a pore minimizer is Avon Mark Needa Shirnk Pore Minimizer. This is more affordable and can only purchased online. It is a natural astringent plus it contains; grapefruit, orange and pomegranate extracts to cleanse and tone. Only available online for only $7.00.

Mary Kay Timewise Age-Fighting Moisturizer has been with me for about a year now. I can't get enough of this product because my favorite thing is the product gets sucked into the skin and leaves only a gentle smooth feeling with no oils or grease left behind. I love that it is an age-fighting moisturizer that's helps firm and soften as it reduces the appearance of fine lines. This keeps your face hydrated for up to 10 hours. This formula also help even out the skin tone. This product can only be purchased online or with a Mary Kay beauty Consultant. It is only $22.00 and lasts form 6 to 8 months.

Dermadoctor Wrinkle Revenge Rescue & Protect Eye Balm is my one time favorite because inside this little container has magic for dark circles, puffiness and wrinkles. What more can I ask for? This product delivers immediate, visible improvement of puffiness and dark circles, while skin firms and lines fade with continued usage. Has latest advanced amino acids and works miracles. This product can only be purchased online or at your local Sephora retailer for $48.00. Pricey but worth it, it lasts a very long time. I only put the finest dot on each eye and work my ring finger all around including my eye lid 2 times a day. If you put too much of any eye cream before you put on your concealer; the concealer will create more fine lines.

 

 

Step 10: NIGHT SOLUTION

 

 

 

 

Mary Kay Timewise Night Solution is vitamin base gel that works overnight to firm and neutralizes the skin perfecting wrinkles and fine lines. The are little colorful beads inside that are antioxidants and collagen-enhancing peptides nourish, smooth and firm skin. This gel makes your skin feel fresh and smooth. I love this because it works with any skin type and as I say no one is ever too young to start fighting wrinkles and fine lines.
